The Gulf of Mexico Alliance will celebrate ten years of regional partnerships tonight, May 20th. Recognizing the contributions of over 50 organizations representing state, federal, non-profit, academic, and private entities, the Alliance has been the model for similar partnerships around the U.S. and Mexico. The reception begins at 6:00pm followed by a brief program at the Renaissance Mobile Riverview Plaza Hotel. The Gulf of Mexico Alliance has initiated a number of collaborative programs. To name a few it has:

– Developed a Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB – an example is red tide) prediction warning system.
– Launched Storm Smart Coasts to help decision makers address challenges of storms and other coastal hazards.
The meeting will conclude Wednesday, May 21.
