The Gulf of Mexico Alliance launched its tenth year with the start of Priority Issue Team meetings in Mobile, Alabama on May 19, 2014. With the conclusion of the Governors’ Action Plan II, teams are discussing which actions to continue and potential new directions for the Alliance. Over 200 people in attendance are addressing the future goals for the region.
The Tuesday morning, May 20th, the Environmental Education team will explore the use of emerging “augmented reality” technology and its potential for community education.
Tuesday afternoon, a joint session of the Coastal Resilience and Habitat Restoration teams will address coastal resilience. There will be a presentation by Patsy Parker, Mayor, The Town of Perdido Beach, Alabama and member of President Obama’s Task Force on Climate Preparedness and Resilience.
