University of Alabama student, Kiley Peruch, is the winning designer for the Paddle the Gulf initiative!

The outreach and event planning working group for Paddle the Gulf recently announced the winning logo for the new initiative. Paddle the Gulf aims to network and showcase coastal blueway paddle trails throughout the five Gulf of Mexico States (Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida). They hope to enhance public awareness and promote stewardship of the region’s coastal resources.

Paddle the Gulf will offer several ecotourism opportunities. It will encourage exploration of coastal blueway paddle trails through a project website with a comprehensive map of coastal paddle trails, citizen scientist opportunities, and informational/educational materials. The logo design competition was advertised for high school and college students in the five Gulf States.

Kiley stated, “I love art and hope to bring my love for creativity into my future job.”

Congratulations Kiley! For more information about Paddle the Gulf or to volunteer with paddling events, please contact Becky Allee at becky.allee@noaa.gov.
