The GOMA Water Resources Team is currently soliciting proposals for a new project to examine the economic impacts of recurring brown tide harmful algal bloom events in Baffin Bay, Texas. The economic data will support ongoing work to improve water quality and restore this iconic bay system.
This project is funded by Freeport McMoRan through the GOMA Gulf Star Program. This public-private partnership provides funding for projects that support healthy beaches, clean waters, productive ecosystems, and thriving coastal communities in the Gulf of Mexico region. In total, nearly 50 projects have been funded through GOMA’s Gulf Star Program since 2016.
Additional project details and a request for proposals are available here. The deadline to apply is July 9, 2021.
