We’re inviting you to participate in a grand campaign – declaring 2020 the year to Embrace the Gulf of Mexico.
Submit your best snaps in our Embrace the Gulf Photo Competition. We need quality images from those of you that live, work, and play around the Gulf. Images will be used in our Embrace the Gulf social media campaign and other Gulf of Mexico Alliance materials. Learn more about Embrace.
We need photographs that relate to any of our five campaign themes: community, environment, education, economy, and tourism. Images must relate to the Gulf of Mexico and/or its watersheds within the five U.S. Gulf States. We want the feel good images; the snaps that really bring out the best the Gulf has to offer.
Who can submit?
We will divide judging into two categories. A Junior Division will include anyone under the age of 18. An Adult Division is for people 18 and over.
- Image Specifications – Images must be at least resolution 300 dpi or 1 megapixels (2048 x 1536) for a print size of 4″ x 5.3” as a JPEG only. No Photoshop funny stuff is allowed. Minor cropping and photo orientation allowed. No special app or computer program filter or altering.
- Photos must be your original work.
- Minors must have the parent or guardian permission to participate.
- For images that include people, photographer must have permission to use the likeness of said individuals.
Think positive and show us that! We want to embrace all the good things about the Gulf of Mexico.
Deadlines & Timelines
Submission deadline is Friday, December 6, 2019.
Judging will occur in December 2019.
Winners will be announced shortly after judging concludes.
Winners & Awards
When you submit your photo, choose the theme you think best fits your image. We may choose to put your image in another theme if we think it fits better somewhere else. Our volunteers will pick the top five to ten images from each theme, in both age groups, and create two pools of photos. We will choose a 1st place in each category and a Best in Show for both age groups. All images, despite placement, may be featured in the Embrace the Gulf social media, the campaign website, and used in other Gulf of Mexico Alliance materials. We will throw together a little swag for our winners.
