Alabama Rivers Educator Workshop by Alabama Water Watch

The Alabama Bicentennial Commission is supporting the development of An Educator’s Guide to Alabama Rivers Curriculum and a series of educator workshops. The curriculum will assist educators to impart Alabama River related knowledge, inspiration, and challenges to young students throughout the state. The curriculum correlates to the AL Course of Study Standards for Social Studies and Science for grades 4-7, but is also adaptable for upper grades.
During the 1.5 day workshop participants will receive instruction in how to use the curriculum with their own students, and will also learn more about having the option of becoming a facilitators who can share it with other educators within their organization. On the second day of the workshop, participants will tour the Mobile-Tensaw Delta by boat.
Participants will receive:
- Certification as Alabama Rivers Educator
- Copy of the Alabama Rivers: A Celebration & Challenge by Dr. Bill Deutsch
- Copy of An Educator’s Guide to Alabama Rivers
- Access to online digital resources
- Continuing Education Units from Auburn University
- Some food and lodging during workshop
