Shellfish Grower Information Exchange Workshop

Ocean Conservancy will host the Shellfish Grower Information Exchange Workshop on Thursday, February 21, from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at the Island House Hotel (26650 Perdido Beach Blvd, Orange Beach, AL 36561). They are interested in furthering the dialogue surrounding ocean and coastal acidification among shellfish industry representatives. Shellfish growers, hatchery managers and scientists from around the country will discuss their experiences with this water chemistry change along with other environmental issues.

This meeting will provide an opportunity for an exchange of knowledge between growers, scientists, and other stakeholders from the region on mass shellfish mortality events and their impacts on the shellfish community. Ocean acidification will provide the main case study to share, but other challenges will be discussed, such as shellfish diseases, salinity changes and warming waters. RSVP by clicking here.
