TX Professional Development Workshop for Educators
NOAA Planet Stewards, NOAA Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary and Artist Boat are hosting a professional development workshop for formal and non-formal educators addressing Climate Change on the Gulf Coast. Educators will walk away with confidence and tools to take on tough topics related to climate change including, extreme weather events, sea level rise, and ocean acidification. The workshop will include classroom sessions and daily field trips to the Moody Gardens Aquarium to explore the Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary Exhibit, National Weather Service, Artist Boat’s Coastal Heritage Preserve for Eco-Art Kayak Adventure, and a tour of Port Houston on the MV Sam Houston.
Who: Formal and non-formal educators, particularly Middle and High school teachers from the Gulf Coast states
Dates: June 25-28, 2018, ~8am – 5pm, schedule will vary slightly
Where: Carbide Park (La Marque, Texas)
Cost: $50/educator (lunch included daily and Monday night dinner at Moody Gardens)
