Reflecting on Practice Coaching Workshop
The intent of this workshop is to improve your educational practice, build a community of practice and nurture a long-term professional learning program with your team.
This is a rescheduled program due to Hurricane Harvey. It is a learning opportunity that supports and advances informal educators in the Gulf Coast.
The Reflecting on Practice (RoP) program is a professional learning program for informal science educators. It is designed for institutions to adopt and implement with their own staff so that all educators in the organization can participate and learn together. The goal of the program is to advance the informal science education field by cultivating communities of learners among its professionals. The program has three primary objectives:
- To build shared language and understanding among professionals by relating research to practice.
- To engage practitioners in habits of reflection, including observing their own teaching, as a means to develop their practice and make it public.
- To nurture a tradition of continued professional learning among participants, and thereby build a professional learning community
The RoP Coaching workshop will take place December 13-15, 2017 at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin, Texas. To register please visit our webpage: http://missionaransas.org/reflection-practice
The Coaching Workshop introduces the ideas, activities and philosophy of the program, and of course model the teaching practices underlying the program. Workshop participants continue their learning by implementing/teaching the program with their staff at their home institutions.
