If you work with coastal communities on issues related to wetlands, land protection, flooding or sea level rise, then you will want to see the results from two interrelated coastal resilience projects that held joint workshops in four coastal communities during the summer of 2017. The Nature Conservancy’s Coastal Resilience project mapped coastal watersheds with high opportunity for both open space conservation and reducing flood risk. The US Geological survey mapped the future trajectory of tidal wetland migration along the Gulf Coast, identifying likely areas where future development and migration could conflict. With assistance from the GCPO LCC and the South Central & Southeast CSCs, investigators from both projects held community outreach workshops to share findings and gain feedback from people and governments in communities along the Gulf of Mexico coast. Final reports from this research will be made available to registrants for this webinar.
