Clean, healthy water resources are vital to the Gulf of Mexico region.

The Gulf of Mexico Alliance Water Resources Team works to protect the vitality of water resources in the Gulf of Mexico watershed. The team addresses threats to human and aquatic life, water quality-related resource conservation and management, and advances stewardship for healthy water resources.

team goals

  • Protect the vitality of water resources within the Gulf of Mexico watershed by advancing science and technology; improving education and overall environmental awareness, and enhancing partnerships
  • Identify, prioritize, and pursue additional data, information, and research needed to better characterize, understand, and reduce negative impacts to water quality and potential threats to human health or aquatic life
  • Initiate and support activities at the local, state, regional, national, and international level to identify and understand linkages between water quality, water quantity, and sustainability, and threats to aquatic life or human health and how these connections contribute to strong communities and a thriving economy within the Gulf of Mexico region
