Habitat Resources Team

Conservation, management, and restoration of coastal habitats are essential to healthy Gulf ecosystems and economies.

The Gulf of Mexico Alliance Habitat Resources Team works to improve habitat conservation and restoration for priority Gulf habitats including seagrasses, oyster reefs, salt marshes, mangroves, and benthic habitats. Actions are focused on priority habitat assessment, living shorelines, and regional sediment management.

  • Coordinate the development and communication of information on priority Gulf coastal habitats and regional status and trends analyses
  • Develop and disseminate information and tools for the planning and implementation of living shorelines across the five Gulf states
  • Develop information and tools to assist Gulf stakeholders plan and implement more comprehensive regional sediment management
  • Coordinate and contribute as appropriate Priority Issue Team activities and work products to the goals and objectives of the Alliance’s Cross-team Initiatives
