We are so proud of the three schools we supported this 2023/2024 school year as they worked to become NOAA Ocean Guardian schools.
Lincoln Middle School in Port Arthur, Texas, set up recycling stations throughout their school and helped teach students about the 6R’s (refuse, rethink, reduce, reuse, rot and recycle). Watch the video.
Robertsdale High School students in Alabama formed a club called Planet Bear and increased recycling opportunities throughout the school. They also conducted waste audits to see where additional recycling efforts can be encouraged. Watch the video.
Ecole Pointe-au-Chien French immersion school is the first Ocean Guardian School in Louisiana. Elementary school students are learning about the importance of the environment and are growing cypress trees. Watch the video.
These Ocean Guardian School Projects have been a success thanks to the support of Valero, Equinor and Hess through our Gulf Star Program. Thanks to our Education and Engagement team as well for their support on this project.
We are working to help more schools complete NOAA’s Ocean Guardian School program so be sure to follow along as the next school year begins in August.
