BRING REUSABLE ITEMS: Reduce single-use items by bringing a personal water bottle and/or travel mug. Also, bring your own pen and notepad (these will not be provided).

 

RECYCLE: Reduce waste by recycling during the meeting. Return your name tag and lanyard to the registration desk at the end of the meeting.

 

MAKE SUSTAINABLE CHOICES IN YOUR HOTEL ROOM: Bring your own shampoo, soap, and lotion to reduce use of single-use plastic items. Opt out of daily cleaning services. Use our plastic-free coffee and beverage service in the meeting venue instead of single-use items in your hotel room.

We have partnered with Mississippi State University Extension as our Sustainable Meeting Sponsor. Staff from the Plastic Free Gulf Coast and SWAPS programs are providing guidance on low-waste meeting planning, contributing reusable water bottles for meeting attendees, and coordinating recycling efforts.

Our meeting venue, the Golden Nugget Biloxi, is working closely with us to make significant changes in their meeting operations that will reduce waste, eliminate single-use plastics, and promote sustainable meeting practices for this meeting and future events.

REDUCING FOOD WASTE: adopting low-waste food preparation and serving practices, reusing excess food items on site within health department guidelines
