two women at booth with diamondback terrapin

Last month, the Galveston Bay Foundation completed a 2-year diamondback terrapin project focused on increasing awareness of this unique reptile through community engagement, education, and outreach. Oxy and CITGO funded the project through our Gulf Star Program.

During the course of the project, more than 200 turtle excluder devices for crab traps were distributed free of charge. In addition, over 4,500 students learned about diamondback terrapins through various efforts.
