The Clean Water Act (CWA) is the primary federal law governing the protection of the nation’s waters. The CWA established several programs that states and municipalities can use to reduce the amount of trash loadings into waterways. In this webinar, attendees will learn how some states in the Mid-Atlantic region are addressing trash pollution using CWA programs, including the Water Quality Standards, Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL), Nonpoint Source, and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System programs. Speakers will discuss the opportunities and limitations associated with various programmatic approaches to addressing trash loadings into waterways.

The Gulf Research Program’s Board on Gulf Education and Engagement and The Policy and Global Affairs Division’s Board on Higher Education and Workforce are pleased to present the In Times of Crisis: Stories from the Gulf of Mexico Film Premiere and Webinar. This event will feature three short films demonstrating how colleges and universities are working with communities in the Gulf of Mexico region to prepare for and recover from various crises.
The webinar will feature a discussion with the scholars whose work inspired the films and with experts in science and climate communications, disaster studies, and community resilience.

Save the Date, June 16: Trustee Council Annual Public Meeting Webinar
Save the date—the Deepwater Horizon Trustee Council will hold our seventh annual public meeting on the evening of June 16, 2022 via webinar. More information about how to register will be posted and sent to email subscribers in the near future.
During this meeting, we will present updates on the progress made by the Trustee Council and in each of the seven Restoration Areas. This meeting will also serve as the annual public meeting for the Regionwide Trustee Implementation Group. Immediately following the webinar presentations, we will hold an open house with a Question and Answer session. Information about how to submit your questions will also be distributed soon.
If you are unable to attend the public meeting webinar, we will update the Gulf Spill Restoration website with the presentation and transcript and will send a follow-up email informing you when the presentation and transcript are available.
