galveston bay team teaches volunteers

The Galveston Bay Foundation‘s Marine Debris Program is collecting essential data while training and activating citizen scientists across the Texas coast.

In the last six months, the group collected more than 4,000 pieces of marine debris and catalogued in the NOAA Marine Debris Monitoring and Assessment Project (MDMAP).

The Galveston Bay Foundation has also conducted trainings for citizen scientist volunteers. Participants learned how to educate others about marine debris impacts to dolphins, dolphin monitoring, and water quality testing and monitoring.
